Memorial Ride

Memorial Ride 15 April 2014 video

CAN arranged a series of actions to protect the 1.5 million NZers on bikes. We are calling on all political parties to pledge to act on the Cycling Expert Safety Panel's report, due in Sept. Their first meeting was Tuesday 15 April.
These rides celebrate the lives of those people lost to us while cycling and to push for change to ensure these deaths stop.

Memorial ride - two year anniversary

Two years have passed since hundreds of Wellington riders gathered to mark the death of two riders.

On 26 June 2008 Wellington cyclists organised a memorial ride as a mark of respect for the two riders, Des Eyre and Superindendant Steve Fitzgerald, killed on 19 June. Cyclists gathered at Parliament. After a brief opportunity to speak, we departed Parliament, and rode along Thorndon Quay and Hutt Road to Petone Roundabout. We paused there, then rode back to Wellington. The ride commemorated and honoured the lives of the riders.

We remember them.
