Well, we won partly in that NZTA has agreed to reduce the speed limit on the bridge itself to 70 km per hour.

We asked that the speed limit be reduced to 70 per hour from before the Gorge Road. We are not giving in yet - see attachment with our submission.

Our gathering at the bridge was also a demand for off-road connection between Otaki and Te Horo to connect Otaki to the rest of the district. NZTA has produced beautiful (yes beautiful) plans with costing for this. The fly in the ointment is that they demand our council pays a share.

We will submit on this too, but we have asked some preliminary questions, one of them: What was the cost/benefit ratio for this work. The reply was by a phonecall: We don't do cost/benefit for jobs like thes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
