Someone mentioned the concept of women as the indicator species for the health or progress towards increasing numbers cycling. I tell you today, I saw at least six woman on my short bike ride to work, three looking very Copenhagen. And there were men riding too (more usual) including a man around 30-40 dressed in a flash suit with black discrete bicycle clips for his trousers (he was having problems with getting his leather work shoes sitting comfortably in the toe straps of his pedals-a little bit of scuffing happening which he rubbed his finger along to try and remove while sitting at the lights). CHCH looks to be heading back to becoming the Cycling City!
