The National Land Transport Programme (NLTP) is the mechanism through which Land Transport NZ allocates funds to approved organisations for land transport infrastructure and services.

The NLTP allocates funding to approved organisations across a number of national and regional activity classes. Priority is initially given to projects of national importance.

The final Forecast sets out in detail Transit's programme of work for the current year (2008/09 land transport programme) along with an 2009/10 - 2010/11 Plan and a forecast for 2011/12 to 2017/18.
