NZ Bike Expo
CAN is organising our first bike expo in Christchurch, on the 28 & 29 October, at the Air Force Museum of NZ, Wigram.
The Bike Expo will bring together everything to do with the bicycle, in a vibrant and exciting consumer show. Visitors will have opportunities to trial bikes, meet top sports people, learn about new adventures on the Events Programme, and feature prizes and giveaways as well as showcasing a wonderful range of top bike and bike-related brands and retailers.
As a cycling advocacy group we’re very keen to get more people on their bikes, enjoying themselves, doing all kinds of activities. Coming to an expo generates excitement and fun.
The NZ Bike Expo is the finale to a month-long celebration called “Biketober” organised by CAN’s local group Spokes Canterbury, and including the Asia Pacific Cycle Congress.
CAN’s partners for the Bike Expo include Cycling New Zealand, the Bicycle Industry Association of New Zealand and the NZ Transport Agency and we’re talking to other partners and sponsors now.
We're aiming to get a wide range of bike related suppliers, retailers, organisations, tour and event operators represented at the Expo to celebrate everything to do with the bicycle.
Exhibitors from around the country are signing up now, with the Early Bird special finishing on 31 July. Exhibitor information is on the website https://www.nzbikeexpo.nz/
Exhibitors are invited to put forward ideas for talks and demonstrations to an Events Programme. There will be a visitor’s goodie bag and to giveaways and prizes.
We’re aiming for 6,000 people to attend. It’s going to be a fun weekend for everyone who loves any type of bike, from to the competitive sports cyclists through to the casual recreational rider and commuter and of course, kids of all ages.
Cycling New Zealand will showcase the elite side of sport cycling as well as their community programmes. Cycling New Zealand will also be linking the Bike Expo into cycling club networks throughout the country. Exhibitors will be mentioned in our pre-event promotions through social media channels.
