NTCA Minutes April 6, 2011

North Taranaki Cycle Advocates

April 6, 2011

 

Present: Graeme, Stuart, Rowan, Nigel, Alan

 

  1. Bank balance: $332.59
  2. Rowan reported that they had cycle training at a Fitzroy primary this week (five trainers total) – also that Nathaniel needs volunteers to help with the Marfell School (Endeavour Street) big bike fix-up on Sunday 2-4 pm. Volunteers need.
  3. Rowan and Stuart reported that Let’s Go closed off two blocks of Devon Street to hold a street market Sunday morning and it was packed with visitors.
  4. Graeme reported that NPDC annual budget is out for consultation with deadline at end of April. Alan volunteered to download proposed budget and notify group by email about line items that concern cycling. We agreed that NTCA needs to advocate for the sewage pipeline extension to Waitara to include a combined path for cyclists and pedestrians.
  5. Discussed problems cyclists are having with the new Waimea roundabout. Graeme will have a look at it and possibly bring it up at the next Cycle Strategy Implementation Planning meeting. Graeme will contact Nathaniel about scheduling another CSIP meeting.
  6. CAN update

--advertising contract positions for joint contract CAN and Bike NZ have to deliver project for NZTA.

--next cycling/walking conference will be Feb or Mar in Hastings. There will be separate CAN-Do and AGM later this year.

7.  Rowan reported that bikes weren’t safety checked for the Weetbix Triathalon.

        8. Graeme reported TV3 had good feature on well-known singer Don McGlashan getting car doored in Auckland and     receiving  a punctured lung and several broken bones.

      9. Graeme and Alan reported that Liz Beck held a meeting with central businesses about doing a travel survey to help  develop a small business travel plan. Graeme represented Transfield Worley and Alan substituted for the representative from STOS.
