1. Let's Go -
- agreed with the idea of holding a bimonthly meeting between the Let's Go team and individuals, schools, businessnes involved in various Let's Go projects. The goal would be for the team to update people on the status of various projects and give them the opportunity to ask question. This forum could be used to raise concerns about aspects of the Cycle Implementaiton Strategy that seem to have been supplanted by Let's Go.
- Stuart gave brief update on Long Term Plan submission from Let's Go Working Group and crossing revisions planned at Devon Intermediate, Frankley/Mill Road roundabout, Omata/Belair interesection, Lawry St, and the police station.
2. Nathaniel reported on scooter training, which is starting at St Joseph's, as well as plans for a 2nd bus/cyclist workshop. Graeme reported on a truck/cyclist workshop in Dunedin. Nathaniel is waiting for the CAN workshop promotion video to be available and then he will start visiting local trucking companies about holding a New Plymouth truck/cyclist workshop.
3. Graeme interested in getting clarification of where specific section of the Cycle Strategy Implementation Plan are at - particuarly related to resealing. There was an agreement that all resealing would include bike lane revisions, particularly where bike boxes were missing and cyclists were forced to use the left turn lane. Stuart gave the example of the northbound section of Dawson approaching Vivian, and Graeme gave an example of a section of St Aubyn that has been recently resurfaced.
5. Helmet campaign - discussed George's (New Plymouth cop) campaign to pressure cyclists on the foreshore to use helmets. He's stressing that all helmets with cracks or older than five years must be replaced. Apparently he has persuaded the bikeshops to offer 10% discounts if people trade in their old helmet.
6. Bank balance: $335.93.
7. Next meeting - Wed 4 July 5:30 pm, location TBA
