How is every body getting on with the new bridge ? I find it a lot safer than before, I commute along Chapel street to cross the bridge , on my way to work i tend to use the direct motor traffic route on the up ramp opposite the petrol station, once on this route you are commited to use the road ,you just have to be very aware of the traffic merging on your left from Sulpher point.Like most other commuters on the road I dont always leave home in good time & to take the official cycle route to cross the bridge is a bit of a Heath Robinson affair with 4 or 5 extra traffic lights to negotiate & the 15kph speed restriction on the cycleway adds nearly 10 mins to my commute.When on a recreation ride though i tend to use to official route. Crossing the bridge to Tauranga is also a lot safer whether riding on the road or cycleway. Definatly a lot less stressfull crossing the bridge than it has been for many years!
