CAN submission on discussion document 'Infrastructure: Facts and Issues'

CAN submission on discussion document 'Infrastructure: Facts and Issues'

In early September the government announced that it intends to develop a National Infrastructure Plan by early 2010.  This Plan will be updated every three years.

The 20-year plan is intended to present a high-level view of the state of New Zealand's infrastructure and include a stock-take of existing infrastructure and anticipated future requirements.

Given the very short time between the deadline for making a submission  on the Safer Journeys discussion document and the deadline for this submission, the process used was for exec member Andrew Macbeth to develop a draft drawing on comments received following the 10 Sept posting on the CAN website about the opportunity to make submissions. Feedback from exec members on this draft was incorporated prior to the despatch of the submission on Monday 5 October.

For more information please read the Minister's media statement on the Beehive website: Government welcomes infrastructure paper (7 September 2009).

Subject: RE: Submission from CAN - Infrastructure: Facts and Issues

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for taking the time to make a submission on the Infrastructure: Facts and Issues paper (http://www.infrastructure.govt.nz/plan). We appreciate this, as this engagement process is vital in developing the first National Infrastructure Plan.

Submissions will be considered over the next few weeks. A summary of them and the key points that will need to be considered in developing the first Plan will then be posted at the above link. This is planned for the end of October.

With thanks and kind regards,
Emma Quigley
