What do you think are the key issues that need to be addressed?

Key issue - 1: As we transition to a low-carbon future, the first priority must be to manage traffic with the aim of reduction in single occupant vehicles. We support reallocation of road space to
active modes (walking and cycling) and the less polluting modes (public transport, car pools).

Key issue - 2: We support medium-density, mixed-use development of the area: housing, retail, commercial and recreational.

Key issue - 3: Remove on-street parking on Adelaide Rd and improve quality of footpaths.

What do you like best about the Adelaide Road area?
Adelaide Rd offers a direct connection between the city and southern suburbs.

Is there anything you would like to see changed in the Adelaide Road
area:
1. Integate Adelaide Rd planning with GWRC’s Ngauranga–Airport corridor plan.

2. Extend Adelaide Rd planning to include Riddiford St at least as far as the hospital.

3. Instead of four traffic lanes and on-street parking on Adelaide Rd, reallocate road space as above. Remove on-street parking to encourage use of public transport and make room for bus and cycle lanes.

4. Reduce traffic speeds to 40km/h on Adelaide Rd, 30 km/h elsewhere, for better road safety.

5. In addition to bike lanes on Adelaide Rd, we support construction of bike lanes on Hansen, King and Belfast Sts, linking John St with the Basin. Purchase of a single building would make this possible.

6. We need a smoother linkage between the bypass cycle path, and cycle route(s) on Adelaide road.

7. Can we have more trees and community gardens?
