PURPOSE
This report outlines recent investigations and findings in relation to the validity and
appropriateness of the existing speed limits on Tarata Road. The outcome is a proposal to
extend the 50km/h speed limit for 250m in an easterly direction from its intersection with
Rata Street at the Kurapete Stream bridge.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report discusses the existing speed limit on Tarata Road within the Inglewood
Township, and provides recommendations to amend this speed limit to promote a safer
community.

RECOMMENDATION
That having considered all matters raised in the report in relation to implementing the
following speed limit changes in accordance with the New Plymouth District Council
Speed Limits Bylaw 2005, the proposed changes be endorsed and take effect from
1 December 2010:
a) Create a new 50km/h speed limit for the 250m section of Tarata Road in an
easterly direction from its intersection with Rata Street at the Kurapete Stream
bridge
