Mightly River power are proposing to build a windfarm on ridgelines in the Turitea in the hills near Palmerston North. A large part of this would be in the Turitea Nature Reserve which is the water catchment for the town water supply.  Many members of Cycle Aware Manawatu are concerned about the adverse effects this proposal would have on cycling if consented.  The attached submission was therefore sent from the group.

This unfortunate incident of a cyclist injured by being hit by an opening driver car door, then clipped by a passing truck on Featherston Street. This accident was traumatic for both the cyclist and drivers involved and highlights the need to improve safety for cyclists in the city through greater emphasis on sharing the road.
