The Coastal Cycleway/Walkway was first proposed in 1999 by OCEAN. It is now completed till Peka Peka. If access through private land can still not be negotiated, now is the time for NZTA to construct the missing links to enable off-SH1 access between Otaki and Peka Peka for the Otaki population particularly young people.
The local council Kapiti Coast District Council should now lobby NZTA to link Te Horo Beach Road and Te Waka Road. The Council can also assist in getting the South side of the Otaki River bank open to cyclists and walkers who would like to picnic here in this beautiful spot.
