Frocks on Bikes "Frocknic" Wairarapa ride Sat 4 April

New date: 4 April

Fancy frolicking on quiet country roads? Picture yourself picnicking in the shade by a river, and gulping gewurztraminer at Gladstone? Climb aboard the Frock-nic, a picnic, in frocks, on bikes!!

On Saturday 4 April we’ll take the 9:55am train from Wellington to Carterton, where we’ll have a cafe stop, then a 13-km cruise on flat roads to a shady picnic spot at Carters Bush. Bring your togs – the river is gorgeous! Nearby options for refreshments include Gladstone Winery or Gladstone pub. We’ll return the same way for a 26-km ride total; or take a longer route back to Carterton over a modest hill, 40-km total. The train back to Welly leaves at 5:05pm from Carterton.

RSVP by 31 March to frocksonbikes@gmail.com as we have to let the train folks know to put an extra luggage wagon on the train.

Frocks On Bikes is a group of Wellington women (and supportive blokes!) who love bikes and love the planet. FoB began at last summer's Go by Bike day and is being nurtured by the Intersect Network – young professionals who are passionate about a sustainable world.

Frocks on Bikes is about showing that cycling is a convenient, fun, liberating and sexy way for women to get around. It doesn't have to involve lycra or sweating - you can hop on a bike in your prettiest frock, your highest-powered suit, or anything in between.
