Re: CFA09 - Presenter of the Awards:
If the CFA goes ahead, we need a presenter. Steven Joyce has not responded to our request that he present the Awards. I have followed up with his private secretary to no avail so far. Perhaps you could get a commitment from him at your meeting.
Thanks,

Relax the punitive
Relax the punitive legislation which is restricting the uptake of utility cycling by the general population. i.e. review and rescind the helmet law and the law which prohibits all cyclists from choosing to use existing segregated pathways.

The best way to get bikes on
The best way to get bikes on buses is to remove a couple of seats by the rear door and let cyclists to carry their bikes on and stand holding on to them. Quick, simple and easy.

Reducing traffic flow and
Reducing traffic flow and speed down Queen street; perhaps restricting it to public transport, emergency services and deliveries?
Creating pedestrian/bicycle only areas on some of the side streets around Auckland City
Increase cycling facilities and add cycle lanes (and/or brass plaques in pavement like on waterfront - see http://aucklandcyclechic.blogspot.com/2009/05/top-brass.html) to Britomart - it is supposed to be a 'transport centre' after all, and bicycles are a transport option.
Auckland Harbour Bridge Walk
Auckland Harbour Bridge Walk and Cycle facility urgently needed. Can't contemplate the National Cycleway for tourists without it and think what wonderful views users will have. Socially, environmentally and economically it makes sense.
Don't undo the good work that had been started by previous legislation; walkers and cyclists needs must be taken into consideration in all new roading projects. Getting a mindset shift is an enormous task - it was starting to happen. John Key is on to it and the benefits it can bring to communities, follow the lead!
Thanks for the assist Robert! Rgds J
