Networking Project complete today

Today marks the completion of the Networking Project. Please take a moment to reflect on the mission we set ourselves in 2006 and how far we have come.

Have we:
- strengthened the capacity of national and local cyclist user groups to participate effectively in transport-focused planning and decision making processes?

- expanded and strengthened CAN?
- encouraged and promoted positive attitudes and perceptions of cycling as a mode of transport for easing severe congestion and contributing to positive health, environmental and road safety outcomes?

Annual Report 2009-2010 Looking at our Annual Reports, and looking at our network of advocates, I'd have to say yes.

Although future funding is uncertain, we have plenty of committed people with the knowledge, skills and motivation to continue.

Let's rededicate ourselves to creating a better New Zealand: healthier people, more liveable neighbourhoods, less noise, pollution and congestion, fewer crashes, great urban design and good old-fashioned fun.

That's a goal worth working for.

I invite you to share a story or memory.

Yes, it was a great time

and much has been achieved that could not have happened without staff.

Nice one Patrick and Fiona

Good stuff Patrick and Fiona (and of course Simon, Anne Gummer and Kirsten!)

Nice one Patrick! I wasn't

Nice one Patrick! I wasn't part of CAN when the Networking Project started and it's difficult for me to imagine what CAN was like without it. In my roles in CAN I've found that having that resource, both the knowledge and willingness to help, in the networking staff has been of huge value to me. Thanks to everyone involved, from conception to where we are now!!
